Aaaalso, Eva, ich werde dich jetzt nicht damit belästigen, dir „rug“ zu übersetzen und google empfehlen. Auch habe ich nicht wikipedia bemüht, sondern mich an Facebook gewandt. Ich habe eine Freundin in den USA, deren Hobby „Quilting“ ist, also Patchwork-Decken nähen, und ich dachte, wenn jemand, dann weiß die was. Das ist die Antwort, die ich gekriegt habe:

For my mother on laws birthday I had all the guests send a picture of themselves and a nice sentiment which I then scanned onto fabric and made a quilt for her.“
Ich hoffe, das hilft. Ob du das jetzt aber im Kontext mit „Patchworkdecke oder -teppich“ übersetzen willst, das musst du selbst entscheiden.
