Hallo liebe Gemeinde,
Kim Mitchell ,ein Gitarrist,hat eine neue CD mit dem Titel „Kimosabe“.Das ist auch ein Lied,in dem das Wort des öfteren vor kommt.Leider kann ich mir,trotz relativ guter englisch Kenntnisse,keinem Reim auf die Bedeutung machen.Vieleicht kann mir ja einer bei w-w-w helfen.
Ach so,der Kerl ist Kanadier;möglicherweise ist da ja ein französicher Wortstamm drin,auch wenn K.Mitchell aus dem englisch sprachigen Teil kommt.

„KIMOSABE“ = Potowatomie lndian for „faithful friend“
Die Potowatomie sind ein kanadischer Indianerstamm.

Kimosabe is the „name“ Tonto used when speaking to the Lone Ranger. Ich kann kein Potowatomi aber etwas Sauk und daher zweifel ich, ob es wirklich ein P. Wort ist. (Es ist auch unwahrscheinlich, dass Tonto ein P. darstellen sollte, da er wahrscheinlich aus Texas stammte.

Gerade weil Tonto the lone ranger kimosabe - freund - nannte, ist es wunderlich, dass Tonto so hiess. Weil tonto naemlich „dummer“ auf Spanisch ist. Naja, weil es sein Name war und keine Redewendung wie kimosabe, sind die Eltern von Tonto wohl daran schuld. Oder vielleicht hat er den Namen nur so geduldet bis eines Tages - wie ein Witz aus meiner Kindheit erzaehlte:
The Lone Ranger and Tonto were riding along when suddenly the Lone Ranger said: „Look, Tonto. There are a hundred indians ahead of us, a hundred to our left, a hundred to our right and more behind us. We are in trouble, Tonto.“
Tonto looked at the Lone Ranger and said: „What you mean WE, white man?“
